Mo McMasters is a visual artist based in Los Angeles, CA on unceded Tongva land. Their body of work exists at the intersection of printmaking, animation, and sequential art.

Mo received their BFA in Illustration from Rhode Island School of Design before moving to the west coast to begin a career in animation. After working at Cartoon Network Studios for many years, they decided to leave the industry in order to focus on expanding their comics and printmaking practices. Now they direct their creative abilities toward challenging binaries of play and discipline, microscopic and macroscopic, and illusion and reality.

Being a well-rounded human is also an important part of their creative practice. When they’re not in their risograph studio, Pretty Guts Press, Mo is likely engaging in community organizing, practicing line-dancing, or watching a horror movie.

Other areas of interest in their art include:

+ Accessibility

+ Dread and fear

+ Archetypal exploration

+ Magical thinking

+ Culture jamming

+ Camp and similarly marginalized styles

+ Revolutionary optimism

Clients and collaborators include: Cartoon Network, Eyerus Propaganda, It Gets Better Project, Oni Press, Planet Fitness, Firebrand Creative House, Junior High LA, Punch Kiss Press, The Washi Station, Printed Pony, Nova Community Arts, Secret Headquarters
